Chamber combines good food with business awards

The folks at Sho Nuff Smokin’ Good BBQ won best local flavor and main course in the Taste of Liberty competition. .

The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Taste of Liberty and Business Awards Ceremony Jan. 16 at the chamber’s historic Bacon Fraser House. The event was held in the front lawn under an elegantly dressed tent done by volunteers from the Young Adults Liberty Leaders (YALL).

Baldino’s, Long Horn Steak House, The Yellow Bee, Sho Nuff Smokin’ Good BBQ, Chick-fil-A, Sweet Spice and Maui Wowi were among the competitors seeking to be crowned as winners for the Taste of Liberty Contest. They were competing in the categories of main course, local flavor and desserts.

Sho Nuff Smokin’ Good BBQ won best local flavor and best main course. Mau Wowi won for best dessert.

Chamber Director Leah Poole then presented the awards to local business leaders in the following categories:

Business Leader of the Year: Nick Westbrook

Self Employed Business of the Year: Molly Maxine

16-35 Employees: Liberty College & Career Academy

36-50 Employees: Walmart Neighborhood Market #4519
