This year’s Code of Conduct process is underway, and the Liberty County School System is asking for principals, staff, parents, students and community members to submit any major changes or revisions they have.

According to Executive Director of Student Services Dr. Kathy Moody, the first memo was sent out on Jan. 4 to give everyone who participates enough time to review the current code of conduct and suggest revisions to the new one.

Any recommendations and revisions are required to be submitted to Kelly Tillman in Student Services at the central office building by Mar. 20, Moody continued.

“Everyone here in the central office staff has a hand and reviews the code,” Moody said. “Everybody plays a role. I have different departments review different sections.”

After all submissions are received, Moody schedules the LCSS district code of conduct committee to review all the suggestions. 

The deadline to submit updates and revisions to school clubs is Mar. 29, she continued. Clubs are also reviewed and included in the code of conduct, but are only approved by the Liberty County Board of Education. 

Usually, Moody said, the board members approve all revisions, as long as there is an advisor, and the clubs meet afterschool. According to state law, O.C.G.A. 20-2-705 b, there must be a club advisor for every school club, so LCSS must receive the information, Moody continued.

LCSS is also accepting photographs from the current school year to include in the 2019-2020 Code of Conduct. Those can be submitted to Kelly Tillman at the central office, Moody said.
