The Liberty County Health Department and Liberty Regional Medical Center are partnering to hold two screening events during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The health department will offer free clinical breast exams – by appointment – from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5 for women who meet certain eligibility guidelines. After an initial screening at the health department, the women can then go directly to Liberty Regional for a mammogram. Women who meet certain annual income guidelines and are 40-64 years of age without insurance will be eligible to receive a screening mammogram at no cost as part of the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP). BCCP provides access to breast and cervical cancer screening for women who may not otherwise have the means to access such services.

For more information on BCCP, visit the website atcoastalhealthdistrict.org/bccp. To schedule an appointment for the October screening events, please call the Liberty County Health Department at (912) 876-2173.
