Early voting starts for sheriff's election

Advance voting in the runoff election for Liberty County Sheriff began Monday and will end on Wednesday, Nov. 24, Liberty County Supervisor of Elections Ella Golden said.
County offices are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday Nov. 25 and 26.
The runoff for sheriff will be on Nov. 30. Sheriff candidates Steve Sikes and Warren Waye were the top vote getters in a special election on Nov. 2.
The special election was called after the death of Sheriff J. Don Martin in May. Polly Martin, Don Martin’s widow, is currently serving as interim sheriff.
Advance voting will be conducted at the Voters Registration office from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. now through Friday and Nov. 22-24. The office is at 204 W. Memorial Drive, next to the Hinesville Public Library.
Advance voting also will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. now through Friday, and Nov. 22-24, at Midway City Hall on Highway 84.
