During this year’s American Education Week, Nov. 14-20, Snelson Golden Middle School and educators, parents, students and community leaders nationwide will join the National Education Association in raising awareness about the need to provide every child with a quality public education.
The week’s theme, “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility” focuses on NEA’s vision of calling upon America to provide public school students with quality schools.
At Snelson Golden, staff will host various activities. Each day has been designated as a special day:
• Monday, Kickoff Day: Community leaders were invited to the school to celebrate public education.
• Tuesday, Parents Day: Parents were invited to visit their child’s classes and preview what a typical school day is like for middle school students.
• Wednesday, Education Support Professionals Day: Recognition will be given to individuals who provide services to the school.
• Thursday, Educator for a Day: Retired educators and community leaders will be invited to visit classrooms and discuss with the students the importance of education and the impact education had on their lives.
• Friday, Substitute Educators Day: This day will honor individuals who are called upon to replace regular teachers.
