The Long County Board of Education is soliciting bids from contractors for construction of a two-school campus to house elementary and middle classes off Highway 84 near Elim Church Road.

Architect Craig R. Buckley of Swainsboro presented plans for the complex to board members last month. Plans for the 256,000-square-foot complex would separate elementary and middle school students.

Plans and specifications can be seen at the McGraw Hill Dodge Plan Room at Pope Construction Co. in Statesboro, where project manager and estimator Bill Vickery works.

Scotty Hattaway is the school board’s contact for information on the schools. Bid deadline is 2 p.m. May 5.

The U.S. Census Bureau population estimate for Long County in April 2015 was 17,731, compared to 14,464 five years earlier.
