Damara Soto, a sixth-grade student at Midway Middle School, was declared the District 18-B winner of the Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest.
In October, Soto beat more than 100 entries to win first place in the Midway contest, which was sponsored by the Liberty Coastal Lions Club. Her winning poster on the theme “Vision of Peace” went on to the district competition in November. She placed first in the district, which is comprised of 47 Lions Clubs. Soto’s entry then was entered into Georgia’s state contest.
Soto won a medal and a gift certificate in the district contest. It was presented by District Peace Poster Chairman Teddi Stevens, a member of the Liberty Coastal Lions Club.
She is the daughter of Donna Soto of Midway.
