Red Cross club hands out 3,400 gift bags, cards

The Fort Stewart American Red Cross Youth Group, the Red Club, had 21 volunteers who passed out 3,396 holiday bags and cards, 258 canned goods and 1,456 personal items for the holidays.

Bags were given out:
Dec. 14 at the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 46 (150 bags)
Dec. 20 at the Christmas program at St. Thomas AME Church (50 bags)
Dec. 21 at the VA Clinic party (75 bags)
Dec. 21 at a nursing home (200 bags)
Dec. 22 and 23 at the Kirk Healing Center, homeless areas in Liberty County and Manna House soup kitchen (150 bags, 258 canned goods)
Dec. 22 at the Liberty County Senior Center and Adult Daycare (40 bags)
Dec. 23 at the Fort Stewart’s main gate and Veterans Parkway gate (2,731 bags)

The Red Club received support from the Liberty County Pre-K Center with handmade holiday bags and canned goods. Button Gwinnett Elementary School gave canned goods. Fort Stewart American Red Cross also provided support.
Liberty County Girl Scouts joined the Red Club for two of the programs to sing and hand out bags.
