Two local students attend a career development event sponsored by the Agricultural Education program. The competition took place at Ware County High School in Waycross. Yaritza Calo (right), a ninth-grade student, placed third in the junior division. She was given 60 minutes to create a corsage and bud vase for a young male to present to his date for a dance. Antonia Gorham, 12th-grade student, placed sixth in the senior division. She was given 30 minutes to create a cascading bouquet for a small-framed bride desiring a fall wedding. The real life scenarios gave students an opportunity to create common designs prepared on a daily basis in the floral industry.
