A fire which started in a vehicle parked outside a home on the 300 block of Strickland road in Allenhurst has left five people displaced.

The fire began shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday when firefighters from the Walthourville Volunteer Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the residence where they encountered a vehicle parked outside the home fully engulfed in flames. Prior to the firefighters’ arrival, deputies from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office were able to remove everyone safely from the home as the fire raged outside.  The fire spread to the outside of the home damaging vinyl and wood.  The fire was quickly extinguished, however it was determined the five adults would not be able to stay there because of smoke damage inside the home. The Red Cross has been called to provide assistance.  No injuries were reported.
