Max Brown Chief Deputy with the Liberty County Sheriff’s office said on March 10, the Walthourville Police Department received a call for assistance from the Auburndale Police Department in Florida. Auburndale PD were looking for a missing 85-year-old male and his truck. Brown said foul play was suspected and the elderly male had been missing for two days. During their investigation the truck was located at 5540 West Oglethorpe Highway, lot 56 in Walthourville.
Brown said the collaborative work of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, and the LCSO Special Response Team, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Walthourville Police and Long County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest David Williams.
Williams was arrested, without incident, for endangered missing person but Brown said Williams later confessed to killing the elderly man. The body of the elderly male was found in Long County off Tibet Road.
Brown said Williams was charged with aggravated assault and first-degree murder. The elderly man has yet to be identified pending notification of next of kin.
Williams is in Liberty County jail. It is unknown if and when Williams will be extradited to Florida.
