The Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers are back in the Class AAAAA girls state basketball Elite Eight.

But it was a struggle Friday night at the BI gym.

Ja’Nya Bush’s late three-point play helped the Lady Tigers finally put away Lee County 52-42, and put the Lady Tigers in the state quarterfinals.

Bradwell (25-3) will host Woodward Academy, a 42-36 winner over Creekview and winners of 16 straight., on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

“A lot of self-inflicted wounds,” Lady Tigers coach Faye Baker said, “but I’m still proud of them. They found a way to do what they needed to do to win.”

Camya Hutcherson’s 3-pointer gave the Lady Trojans an 11-7 lead before Bradwell came back to take an 18-14 lead and grabbed a 26-21 lead, thanks to two Parris Parham 3s.

While the Lady Tigers never trailed again, they also could not put away Lee County. The Lady Trojans trimmed a 10-point deficit to five, 47-42, with 2:52 remaining.

But Bush, who had a team-high 16 points, had two three-point plays in the quarter, including a final one to stretch the lead back out. It was a tough shooting night for the Lady Tigers, who missed a bevy of layups and open looks. They were 17 of 45 inside the 3-point arc, a 37.8 percent clip.

“We’ll take it. By all means,” Baker said of the win.

Talia Porter had 15 points for Lee County, and Jada Ridley added 11.

Parham finished with 10 points for the Lady Tigers.
