The Liberty County Assessors Mapping Department announces, in conjunction with the Hinesville GIS Office, an open house on GIS Day today.
The public is invited to the interactive open house and map gallery between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the lobby of the courthouse annex, 112 N. Main St. in Hinesville.
Held each year on the Wednesday of National Geographic Society’s Geography Awareness Week (Nov. 15-19 in 2010), GIS Day aims to make people aware of geographic information system (GIS) technology and the contributions it makes.
Staff will answer questions and demonstrate the GIS Flex Web Application available on Liberty County’s website as well as the new Liberty Transit interactive route map.
Scott Wall, who runs the mapping department said, “GIS has been an invaluable tool for Liberty County. Since its implementation, we have seen an increased number of property owners and developers needing maps.”
