Group hopes to locate isolated graveyards

A local group is looking for graveyards. Isolated ones. Graveyards that few people know about. But, no, they’re not looking for ghosts. In fact, it has nothing to do with Halloween.
Liberty County’s cultural and historic resource committee is inventorying potentially significant historical areas and structures, and they’re asking the public for help.
Family cemeteries or possibly the sites of individual graves may not be shown on maps or in records, so people who know their locations are asked to get in touch with the committee.
The group is chaired by Liberty County Planning Commission member Lynn Pace, and includes Meredith Devendorf, Otis Amason and Matt Norsworthy.
Sally Dowlen of the LCPC provides staff assistance to the committee; she can be reached at 408-2030.
