Long County officials recently held a ceremony to commemorate nine historical documents now on display at the county courthouse.
The documents include the Mayflower Compact, the Magna Carter, the Preamble to the Georgia Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Ten Commandments.
Price Chapman, a member of the committee that lobbied to post the documents, said the frame and presentation ceremony were paid for by local residents. The documents were posted at no cost to the county.
