HPD asking for public’s assistance

The Hinesville Police Department is asking the public for help regarding a suspicious Snapchat post that appeared at 6 p.m. Thursday on the social media app. 

The post made by an unidentified individual showed a firearm and marijuana and tagged the post with “at Snelson Golden Middle School.” The username associated with the post is Babybuckz69.

Anyone with information related to the post is asked to call 912-3688211.

Parents were informed of the unsubstantiated threat via a text message or email Thursday night, sent out by Principal Dr. Anthony K. Johnson.

The email said the school was working with law enforcement and stated that every safety protocols were being put in place.

“The safety of our staff and students is always a priority,” the statement read. “It has come to our attention that students across the nation are posting things like this as a joke.”

The statement continues with a plea that parents talk to their kids about the serious nature of making false or any type of threats. It also said the threats are punishable by law.
