Hinesville police are investigating what led to a man being shot and wounded Friday night.

According to Hinesville Police Department Assistant Chief Terronova Smith, the Hinesville Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault incident involving a shooting that took place shortly before 7 p.m. at a Veterans Parkway convenience store.

The victim was taken by LifeStar to Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah for treatment. His condition is unknown.

An individual is being detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
