A Fort Stewart sergeant has been arrested and charged with the deaths of the two soldiers found Sunday in a Hinesville townhome.

Sgt. Shaquille D. Craig, is charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Specialist Marquez Brown and Private Malika Jackson, who were found around 8:30 p.m. Sunday after an anonymous tip.

According to Hinesville Police Department Chief of Detectives Capt. Chris Reid, the arrest was made with the help of Fort Stewart's Criminal Investigation Division.

Reid said, "Leads developed by the Ft. Stewart CID office and HPD enabled investigators to quickly identify and arrest the suspect. The motive of the crime seems to have been personal between Craig and Jackson with Brown being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Craig was escorted to the Hinesville Police Station by CID agents and was taken into custody without incident.  

A first appearance hearing is tentatively scheduled for tomorrow morning.

  Fort Stewart Soldier, Sgt. Shaquille D. Craig, 24, of Selma, Alabama, has been arrested by the City of Hinesville Police Department in connection to the deaths of two Soldiers in Hinesville, Georgia. 
Sgt. Craig is a petroleum supply specialist assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division. He joined the Army in June 2012 and arrived at Fort Stewart in January 2014. He has no deployments.‎
The deceased Soldiers were:
Pvt. Malika Darion Jackson, 21, of Foley, Alabama. An automated logistics specialist, he joined the Army in May 2016 and arrived at Fort Stewart in October 2016. He had no deployments.
Spc. Marquez Brown, 23, of Macon, Georgia. A wheeled-vehicle driver, he joined the Army in October 2014 and arrived at Fort Stewart in April 2016. He had no deployments.‎
Both Soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 3rd Infantry Division.
‎The City of Hinesville Police Department is the lead in this investigation.
