Walthourville Police Lt. Wade Long, attempting to initiate a traffic stop, was involved in a chase on Talmadge Road in Walthourville on Wednesday night.

According to Walthourville Police Chief Tracy McFadden, the chase ended when the vehicle containing four people crashed into a cluster of trees on Talmadge Road around 9:30 p.m. Two suspects fled on foot, and another passenger was treated at the scene and released.  

A fourth passenger, an 18-year-old woman who was sitting in the backseat, was seriously injured and was flown by a medical helicopter to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

Authorities searched the Talmadge Road  area, using K-9s to track the the two suspects who fled but the dogs eventually lost their scent.
