Liberty BoE receives honor

The Liberty County Board of Education has been named a Georgia Quality School Board.
The BoE will be honored at the 2014 Georgia School Boards Association/Georgia School Superintendents Association conference Dec. 6 in Atlanta.
BoE Chairwoman Lily Baker and other board members will accept the award.
To earn the honor, a BoE must complete tasks such as conducting a self-assessment, adopting a system strategic plan, training and maintaining accreditation.
The board also must develop an action plan to address opportunities for improvement.
To remain in compliance, boards must recertify and meet the criteria every year through a self-nominating process.
“I am proud of the accomplishment of our board of education,” Liberty County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Valya Lee said. “The board members have worked hard as a team to reach this goal.”
