A man picked an inopportune time and location for his afternoon nap.
Hinesville police Traffic Accident Investigators Lt. Bill Kirkendall said the man was accidentally run over by a tractor-trailer after deciding to take a nap under the parked semi.
Kirkendall said the delivery driver was delivering items to Chris's Curbside Grill on Hollywood Drive on Monday afternoon when he lay down underneath the truck.
When the truck driver finished his delivery, he got into the vehicle and pulled away, not knowing he had run over the man, Kirkendall said.
The man who was flown by Air Evac to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.
Kirkendall said police do not have a positive identification of the man at this point, but he had told officers on scene that he just wanted to take a nap under the truck.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was in Richmond Hill when he was notified of the accident, and he returned to the scene of the accident.
The man was found unresponsive by a passerby who then called 9-1-1.
