A man was injured this morning in a rollover in Long County.

According to Ludowici/Long County Fire Department spokesperson J.R. Ashdown, at around 8:50 a.m., the fire department received a report of a two-vehicle accident on Highway 301 near Moody Bridge Road. He said that when firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a pickup on its side that had been pulling a second pickup on a tow dolly.

Ashdown said an elderly man and his wife managed to get out of the truck and were near the road. The man had a large laceration on his head and over his right eye. Because of the seriousness of the cut, a helicopter was requested from AirEvac in Jesup. The man was transported to an emergency-landing area by ambulance and flown to Memorial Medical University Center in Savannah.

Ashdown said he did not know the extent of any other injuries, but the man appeared to be in stable condition. The wife didn’t appear to have any injuries but still was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville to be checked out.
