New city hall receives historical scene
web city hall painting 028

Local historian Judy Shippey presents the city of Hinesville with a painting on Tuesday of the old Liberty County Fair to grace the new city hall’s Hinesville room. Shippey said Hinesville artist Ethelda Lee painted the fair scene.

The fair once was held where the National Guard Armory now stands on Oglethorpe Highway. Lee had given the painting to Shippey’s parents for their wedding anniversary in 1976. Members of Lee’s family attended the presentation.
