Tuesday deadline for primary voting

Time is running out to register to vote in the May 24 general primary.

The last day to register is Tuesday. Those wanting to register in person may do so from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the historic Liberty County Courthouse, 100 N. Main St., Suite 1600, in Hinesville. Call 912-876-3310 for more information.

In Long County, register in person at the Board of Elections and Registration, 459 S. McDonald St. in Ludowici, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Call 912-545-2234 for more information.

To be eligible to vote, participants must be at least age 17½, U.S. citizens and residents of Georgia, the county and the municipality in which they wish to vote. People also can register online or check their voter registration status at sos.ga.gov or on the GA Votes smartphone app.

During advance voting, Liberty County residents may cast their ballots from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in the historic courthouse or the Liberty County Community Complex, 9397 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Midway. Long County residents may cast their ballots at the Board of Elections.

Advance voting begins May 2, and ends May 20. Saturday voting is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 14.

Election Day is May 24, with all precincts open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
