The Long County Commission decided to take the word “interim” out of County Administrator Chuck Scragg’s job title during a June 4 meeting, confirmed Long County Commission Chairman Robert Parker.

Scragg served as a part-time interim administrator following former County Administrator Frank Etheridge’s departure in March. He also serves as the county’s economic development director.

The Long County Board of Commissioners advertised the position in local media and on professional platforms and interviewed several qualified candidates. In the end, the commission voted unanimously to offer Scragg a one-year commitment as a fulltime county administrator and he accepted, Parker told the Courier.

The Long BOC will next meet at 5 p.m. July 2 for a budget hearing, and plan to adopt the proposed 2020 Fiscal Year budget at a regular meeting following the public hearing.
