The Georgia Municipal Association’s Risk Management and Employee Benefit Services (RMEBS) program has appointed Vicky Nelson, District 3 member for the Hinesville City Council to its Board of Trustees.

Nelson brings nearly a decade of municipal leadership to the role. First elected in 2015 and taking office in January 2016, she is currently serving her third full term on city council, having been re-elected in 2019 and 2023. In 2024, she was unanimously selected by her peers to serve as the first female mayor pro tem in the city’s history.

A longtime Hinesville resident, Nelson is known for her strong community presence and hands-on involvement. She organizes an annual toy drive each December at Irene B. Thomas Park and the Special Needs Egg Hunt each April, while remaining active with local organizations, including the Liberty County Democratic Party Committee and Long County Family Connections. She previously served on the Hinesville Development Authority Board and, in 2022, received a Certificate of Dedication from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute.

“Serving the City of Hinesville has always been about putting people first and staying connected to the community,” Nelson said. “I’m honored to join the RMEBS Board of Trustees and look forward to supporting programs that help cities across Georgia.”

As a trustee, Nelson will help guide RMEBS programs and services as they continue to support cities across Georgia.

The Georgia Municipal Association’s Risk Management and Employee Benefit Services (RMEBS) program provides risk management, insurance, and employee benefits solutions to cities and related entities across Georgia, helping members reduce risk, protect assets, and support their workforce.
