Monday accident claims life of Hinesville woman
Georgia State Patrol

A Hinesville woman was killed Monday night in a McIntosh County accident.

Michelle Hilliard, 23, was traveling on Highway 57 with her two children in a Chrysler 300 when she collided with a tractor-trailer, driven by Kenneth Hagans of North Carolina, said David Laff, commander of Georgia State Patrol Post 11 in Hinesville. Hagans was attempting to turn around by backing up into the driveway of the Townsend Bombing Range shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Hilliard’s vehicle slid underneath the tractor trailer, and she was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The children were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Laff said. Their condition is unknown.

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team has taken over the investigation and no charges have been filed as of yet. The accident remains under investigation.
