Midway City Council will swear in four new members while Flemington will have a new mayor.
Challengers Rhonda Thomas, Vernon Donovan, Annie Foskey and Janet Bryant Jones won the four Midway City Council seats. Malcolm Williams, who gave up his council seat to run for mayor, and fellow former council member Stanley Brown Jr. are headed to a runoff. Williams received 175 votes and Brown got 173. Kenneth Williams got 154 votes.
The runoff will be held December 2, with early voting being held November 24-26.
Tim Byler defeated incumbent Flemington mayor Paul Hawkins, capturing more than 58% of the votes.
Across the county, voters overwhelmingly approved renewing the TSPLOST, or transportation special purpose local option sales tax, and the FLOST, or floating local option sales tax. The FLOST proceeds will be used to reduce millage rates.
