Wildlife camp
Registration is open for the 2007 Wild Summer Week overnight camp in Mansfield.
The Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center (CEWC) includes 6,400 acres of forests, fields and lakes.
The camp is hosted and organized by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Wildlife Resources Division (WRD).
Dates for the “Wild Summer Week” overnight camp are June 9-13 and is open to children ages 11-14.
The cost for the five-day overnight camp is $250 per child, which includes food, lodging, instruction, program materials and a t-shirt. Overnight camp begins Monday at 1 p.m. and ends Friday at noon.
Camp registration ends May 25 and space is limited.

Public hearing

The Georgia DNR, WRD will hold three public hearings to receive input on proposed changes to the hunting regulations for the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons. The public hearings are scheduled for April 17 in Newnan, April 18 in Cordele and  April 19 in Jasper.
Some of the proposed changes WRD will address include the need to increase either sex days for white-tailed deer population management purposes, expand Georgia counties open to bear hunting, expand alligator season and regulate hunting on wildlife management areas.
Those unable to attend the hearings may submit written statements, prior to the close of business on May 9, 2007. Statements should be mailed to:
