LIZELLA — A commitment to offering inshore redfish anglers opportunities for lucrative payouts and low participation costs continues in 2010, evidenced by the IFA Redfish Tour’s recently released 2010 regular-season schedule. The schedule features 18 events contested across six divisions with the tour making stops in some of the most famed redfish destinations in the country.

The season begins on Feb. 27 when anglers fishing the Florida East Coast Division converge on Jacksonville, Fla., and the final regular-season event is Oct. 16, at Orange Beach, Ala., the site of the 2009 IFA Redfish Tour championship.

In all, the 2010 tour will come to six states — from Texas to the Carolinas — allowing redfish anglers to be a part of a professionally operated tournament without investing a lot of time or money.

Said IFA President Jim Armstrong, "Anglers want to fish and be a part of something fun and lucrative. With one-day tournaments close to home, anglers don’t have to trailer all over the country if they don’t want to do so. Our tournaments continue to be as affordable as they are fun — and best of all, anglers can really cash in on the prize packages and contingencies."

The 18 tour events are all on Saturdays and the newly formed IFA Kayak Fishing Tour, presented by Hobie Fishing, will follow on Sundays. In its inaugural season, the kayak tour will feature 18 catch-photograph-release events across six different division, mirroring the IFA Redfish Tour format.

"The IFA is excited to team with Hobie Fishing in offering a second day of competition," said Bart Schad of the IFA. "A great number of inshore anglers fish from kayaks and this tournament gives this group a chance to compete in a format custom designed for their tactics."

The redfish tour offers two-angler teams the opportunity to compete in six divisions, each offering a three-event regular season.
