A fire Thursday night in Hinesville sent four people to hospitals. The number of injured was initially reported as two.
The fire began shortly after 9 pm in the Baytree Apartment complex in the 200 block of Bradwell street. According to Hinesville Fire Department Cpt. Rick Perryman, the fire began in a ground floor apartment and quickly spread to the second floor where a mother and child were living. Two adults were living in the ground floor apartment. There names had not been released Friday morning.
When Hinesville firefighters arrived flames were shooting through the window of the apartment which is a city owned property. Perryman said two people were taken to the Joseph Stills Burn Center in Augusta and two were taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Other residents of the complex had to be relocated when water and power was turned off last night to assess the damage to the apartments.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
