Bomb threat at Long County High

Long County High School has been evacuated following a phone call claiming their was a bomb in the school.

According to Long County Assistant Fire Chief Shawn Smith, the school was evacuated shortly after the call was received about 2:30 pm Thursday.

According to Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles, the children are currently being held at Smiley Elementry School not far from the High School.

Nobles said they are waiting for an EOD unit to arrive to do a sweep of the area. 

At about 6 p.m. Thursday, LCHS Principal Scotty Hattaway tweeted that vehicles could be picked up at the school and that LCHS students should report to seventh period at Friday's 7:50 a.m. bell to get their belongings.
