Authorities swarmed a mobile home on Rye Patch Road in Long County on Thursday evening where, according to Long County Chief Deputy Robert Berry, two men were killed, a 2-year-old child was shot and the child's mother was injured.
A LifeStar helicopter ambulance transported the child to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah and, on Friday morning, she reportedly was in serious condition. Her mother was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center and released Thursday night.
The two men who died reportedly entered the home with the woman and her child, according to Berry, who also said two other males were detained at the scene for questioning.
Reports of the shooting started circulating around 5 p.m. Thursday. We'll post more on the story as it becomes available.
