Dillon Jacobs, who had recently decided to join the Army, died following a vehicle crash on Highway 144 on Fort Stewart Thursday morning.

The vehicle the 21-year-old Long County resident was driving reportedly collided with a truck. Details about the accident were sketchy since investigative reports had not been obtained.

The victim’s family said in his obituary that the Long County High School graduate had been working with Southern Eagle Distributors, but had recently decided to join the military.

A memorial service for him has been set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
