A Subway sandwich shop on Gen. Stewart Way in Hinesville was held up by man with a gun about 9 p.m. Sunday.
The male clerk was working alone, getting ready to close when a man, wearing a gray hoodie and with a scarf over his face, came in. The clerk told Hinesville Police Det. Joshua Heath the man brandished a silver handgun and demanded money.
Instead of complying, the clerk ran out a back door to a nearby hotel and asked the desk clerk to call police.
Police are asking for information about the crime.
