Shortly before 2 p.m. Friday, a structure fire broke out on the 700 block of Isle of Wight Road, according to Liberty County Emergency Management Agency Director Mike Hodges.
After the blaze was under control, firefighters discovered the remains of Sam Roberts, 88, in the house. Liberty County Coroner Reginald L. Pierce said the body will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab in Savannah for an autopsy.
