Prostitution, business without license, pimping, possession of marijuana — Officers started a sting operation after seeing an ad on www.backpage.com about a woman returning to Hinesville and offering “a good time.” The report said officers recognized the woman in the provocative pictures with the ad. They called, set up a “date” and went to a motel to meet the woman, who had offered herself for $140. The pimping charge was filed against a man who was found to have rented the room. Marijuana was found on him when he was processed for jail. The woman was charged with prostitution.

Suspicious acts — A Britney Lane resident told an officer he received a call stating he was in trouble with a federal grand jury because of tax issues. When he returned the call, it was answered by a man who said he had made a mistake on his 2011 returns. The complainant cut off the man, saying he wanted to speak to a supervisor. After being on hold for a time, but refusing to speak to the man who answered the call, the complainant was cut off.

Theft by taking — A Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park resident reported that she had paid $200 cash to a property manager in November. She said she was told her to pick up the receipt. The request and response were repeated when the women met each other at a store. The complainant said she tried to call the manager several times about the receipt but got no answer. On Jan. 7, she received a note from the leasing office saying her December rent was late and that she would evicted if not paid in three days. When she called the office, she was told the manager in question no longer worked there and there was no record of her payment.
