A woman is being questioned following a stabbing Tuesday evening in the Gateway II apartment complex on Gause Street in Hinesville.

Hinesville police Detective Gail Poulsen said the stabbing was the result of a domestic dispute.

The man was stabbed once with a 6-inch blade and had to be flown to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah by a medical helicopter, which landed on the parade field of Bradwell Institute.

The condition of the man is unknown.

Poulsen said there has been a history of domestic problems at the location of the stabbing.

She said there was a physical altercation between the couple and, according to a witness, the man lunged at the woman, who had a kitchen knife and stabbed him near the abdomen.

The woman has not been charged. Names have not been released, and the man's condition is unknown.
