Nov. 4: Fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer — A sheriff’s office deputy tried to pull over a black Nissan near East Oglethorpe Highway and Patriot’s Trail for failing to maintain a lane. The vehicle did not stop, continuing on East Oglethorpe before turning onto Old Sunbury Road in the direction of Fort Stewart. When the vehicle finally stopped in a driveway on Old Sunbury, the motorist was removed from the Nissan and handcuffed. The driver told the deputy he didn’t stop because he was trying to get home since the vehicle he was driving was not his. The vehicle was towed, and the driver was taken to the Liberty County Jail where was cited for fleeing and attempting to elude, failure to maintain lane and driving on a suspended license – second offense.
