A Midway man was attacked and robbed early Sunday morning, according to law-enforcement authorities.

Rodney Kelly, 42, said two men brandishing handguns and wearing black clothes and ski masks entered his residence in the 300 block of Westfield Road shortly after midnight Sunday and beat him with their weapons.

Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Detective Julie Hibbeler said Kelly was beaten in the head and torso. He was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, where he was treated for cuts and bruises and  released Monday.

According to an incident report filed by  LCSO Deputy Elpidio Fratichelli, between $500-$600 was taken from Kelly.

At the time of the robbery, two women were visiting Kelly when the men burst in, according to the report. Both women reportedly were told to leave the residence before Kelly was assaulted.

The women went to the Hinesville Police Department to report the robbery.  Hibbeler said the case is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
