On the heels of Hurricane Danny dissipating over the weekend, the National Hurricane Center warns that Tropical Storm Erika is following the earlier storm’s path.

It is not expected to cause any problems in Coastal Georgia until at least early next week and maybe not even then.

The center has issued tropical storm warnings for the Leeward Islands and forecasts that the Erika will strengthen over the next few days. It was located at 14.6N and 49.4W at 9 this morning, moving west at about 10 mph.

Its sustained winds are currently about 25 mph.

The center says the same high-level winds that broke Danny up will also effect Erika, but the forecast does not speculate about how strong the storm will be if it survives to the Southeast United States.
