Three people were injured Sunday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Bryan County.
According to Midway Volunteer Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Joe Feinhals, the accident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. at mile marker 81 On Interstate 95 north. Feinhals said a Ford F250 truck with Michigan plates veered off the road and went 30 feet into the woods, entrapping the three passengers.
The passengers had to be extracted from the vehicle, which nearly took an hour due to the extensive damage.
Feinhals said two people were airlifted to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, and one was transported by ground.
The northbound lanes of the interstate were closed while the two medical helicopters picked up the patients. Traffic was backed up for miles.
