The Long County Public Library hosted another storytime event on Wednesday, June 22. This time, the Long County Police Department and State Rep. Buddy De-Loach were on hand to read to kids in Ludowici.

Snow Biz Shaved Ice was there to provide treats, and afterward, the kids painted sea animals.

DeLoach read “Clumsy Crab” by Ruth Galloway, while Ludowici Police Capt. Holden Osborn read “Police Officers on Patrol” by Kersten Hamilton.

DeLoach served in the Army before graduating from the University of Georgia, and he taught fourth grade.

He said he was honored to come and read to the children and that he hopes programs like those at the Long County Library will inspire kids to read, as well as inspire a sense of togetherness.

“It’s not only important for these children, but it’s important for all of these volunteers to be together,” he said. “I’m so impressed with what they’re doing in Long County. This library is a centerpiece for the community and for the children to come here and read.”

Ludowici Chief of Police Robert Parker was also there, and he shared similar sentiments for the library and the effect that it has on the community.

“We always like to see a good turnout,” Parker said. “We hope everybody has a good time and enjoys themselves.”

This week, State Rep. Buddy Carter will be at the Long County Library for the next edition of storytime on Wednesday, June 29.
