The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will award its Spirit of Enterprise Award to U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter at the Hinesville Rotary Club’s Aug. 7 meeting at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center.

“We are always happy to help recognize our champions on the federal level and Congressman Carter is certainly deserving of this great award,” said Leah Poole, Chamber/CVB CEO.

Carter, a Republican who represents Georgia’s First Congressional District, is seeking re-election for a third two-year term. The former mayor of and resident of Pooler is being challenged by Democrat Lisa Ring of Richmond Hill.

Each year the U.S. Chamber recognizes members of Congress with this award for their pro-business voting record. Carter will serve as the guest speaker at the luncheon which begins at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $15 for non-Rotarians. RSVP at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center

The Hinesville Rotary Club, chartered in 1977, is part of Rotary International, one of the world’s largest humanitarian service organizations. This all-volunteer organization accepts members by invitation and is comprised of community leaders and business professionals.

Established in 1976, the local chamber’s mission is to support new and existing business, trade and industry within Liberty County, while increasing the cultural, civic, educational and overall quality of life of its citizens. Chamber officials say it has 500 members.
