Wreaths for Warriors Saturday

CG PSA 1

Invitation from CG Tony Cucolo
Fort Stewart will have its second annual Christmas wreath laying ceremony noon Saturday at Warriors Walk here.

In coordination with Wreaths for Warriors Walk, Fort Stewart's goal is to place a Christmas wreath at the tree of each and every fallen Soldier memorialized at Warriors Walk.  The wreaths, which were purchased through Wreaths for Warriors Walk by private individuals, are to honor our Soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Warriors Walk became a reality in 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Since then, the 3rd Infantry Division has been deployed to Iraq three times.  During each deployment, when a Soldier is killed in action, a tree is planted in their honor along Warriors Walk.  A granite marker, inscribed with the Soldiers, name rank, unit and date of death, sits at the base of each tree.
