Editor, This is to the Citizens of Liberty County:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the businesses, organizations, churches and citizens of Liberty County for your continuous support of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance.
It is evident through your ongoing participation that you value this occasion and view it as an opportunity for solidarity and growth. Without your support we could not have presented the quality celebration we did this year and the previous years.
Your financial support has enabled us to present scholarships to many deserving students here in Liberty County. Words cannot express our gratitude for your overwhelming love and support.
Much appreciation goes out to our youth of Liberty County who participated in this celebration and came out in numbers to celebrate the legacy of a great civil rights leader. We pray that you will take the torch and continue to fight for justice and equality.
Remember that education, service and integrity will get you a long ways. Be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem. Keep the dream alive.
I am especially grateful to the members of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance Association for the outstanding job they do each year in planning and coordinating a celebration “fit for a King.” It takes dedication and commitment to present this county with a quality celebration each year.
This celebration in Liberty County is second to none.  Thank you for a job well done.

Rev. Dr. Alvin L. Jackson
President of the MLK, Jr. Observance Association
