With the election over we are getting some soothing words from Democrats.

“Let’s all stay calm and start working together,” they say. “Now we can all be united, and we can solve our country’s problems. We need to have meaningful conversations and discuss our differences.”

Really?

This after four straight years of nothing but divisiveness? Protests? Legal challenges? Impeachment proceedings? Riots?

Now you want those of us who did try to listen to your complaints with an unbiased mind to stay, calm? You want those of us who knew you had the right to voice your opinions in a peaceful way and watched you turn those into violent looting and vandalism, to stay calm?

I say this with all true meaning in my heart. 

Joe Biden is our President.

 I will respect the office just as I have for the last four years, the eight years before that and so on and so on. I will disagree with some of the decisions that will be made in the Oval Office, just as I have the last four years, the eight years before that and so on and so on. I will agree with some of the decisions that will be made in the Oval Office, just as I have for the last four years, the eight years before that and so on and so on.

I want what is best for all Americans. Not the Democrats, not the Republicans. Americans.

What I will not abide by is now being told to be calm by the very people that have spent the last four years ripping this country in one hundred different directions to serve their party’s agenda. That points the finger at both Republicans and Democrats.

This country was founded on the belief that we can make decisions based on the needs of the people, not a political party or corporations.

So, here’s what I say. “Go to work.”

Don’t sit back and gloat. Don’t sit back and sulk. 

“Go to work.”

Do the things you have said you are in Washington for. Work for the people, not a selected group here or there. Don’t do it to look good, do it because it’s what the people need and want.

Sound simplistic? Yep, it’s that simple. Do your legislative duties by serving the people. Simple.

If I sound a little bitter, tough. I’m not a big fan of either party right now, so I guess I’m throwing it back at the politicians.

Wednesday, November 11 is Veterans Day. It is a time when we celebrate and have solemn thoughts about the men and women who have served our country. It’s a time when we should give thanks to those who have put their life on the line for the very freedoms and rights we have continued to enjoy.

This is where our thoughts and words should be directed. Thanking those who have served this country then and now. If ever there was a time when we should put aside our differences, its’ on a day when we celebrate the very men and women who defend and protect our country.

Last I looked, we have women and men of all races, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and political beliefs serving our country. They serve for a common cause. Protect and defend the United States of America. They serve, and have served in foreign countries, far from home and family. They sacrifice more than many can ever know. They serve the American people in the finest way possible, by risking and sacrificing their lives.

It is a lesson many of our politicians should study with earnest. Go to work Washington.
