Old enough to die for country and drink

If you’re old enough to fight and die for your country, you’re old enough to have a cold beer if you want. And you shouldn’t have to worry about getting busted for being underaged.
That’s why Rep. Jack Kingston’s bid to legalize on-post drinking for service members under 21 not only makes sense, but is the right thing to do.
We can debate the evils of drinking all we want, but this isn’t an alcohol abuse issue. Instead, it’s acknowledgment that the men and women who serve our country are adults and deserve to be treated as such.
“We tell them they’re responsible enough ... to risk their lives, but not responsible enough to have a beer with a steak on post. I think that’s an insult,” Kingston said.
We agree, congressman. Here’s hoping this measure is swiftly passed.
