Dear Editor,
During Fort Stewart’s Marne Week, 28 teams comprised of 112 soldiers and airmen from units at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield took part in the Marne Open Golf Tournament at Taylor Creek Golf Course. The tournament was just one of many unit and individual competitions that took place during Marne Week. The highlight of the tournament was a hole in one scored by 1LT John Kelly on hole number 17.
The Hinesville Military Affairs Committee served as a tournament sponsor for the event and solicited hole in one, closest to the pin, longest drive, putting contest and hole sponsors for the tournament. Monies raised by HMAC from sponsors will be used to eliminate or reduce soldier’s registration fees for an upcoming 3rd Infantry Division Ball.
