Editor, A few months ago, at the conclusion of Olin Fraser’s funeral, two of my former students, Jimmy Smith and Tommy Davis, came up to me and told me they were going to have a birthday party for me the Saturday after my birthday. This occasion happened this past Saturday night, and what a party it was!

I was so pleased that my wife and all four of my children and their spouses could be in attendance. It was certainly one of the highlights of my life. To see and talk with some of my former students, many of whom I had not seen for years, and hear about the contributions they have made to better society thrilled me.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank each one of you for being there.

There were many cards and gifts that I did not open until I got home. It took me more than an hour to read the flattering remarks, each of which made me feel real good. Thanks.

Throughout the night, we had great music from the best musicians you could put on stage. The spread of food was delicious, and nobody went away hungry.

Again, it was a great day! I want to thank each and every one of you for making the occasion such a special and memorable one.
